Stella Polaris AS and Lyngen Reker AS are our modern prawn factories located in Troms county.
The coldwater prawn (
Pandalus borealis) is used as raw material for our production. To preserve the natural and good quality, the prawns are immediately frozen when landed aboard the trawler. The fresh prawns which are caught along the Norwegian coastline are delivered fresh to our production plant and are manufactured directly.
The peeling process of frozen raw material starts with defrosting the prawns, cooking and cleaning the prawns for shells and heads. Peeling takes place completely automatically using various technologies, such as laser. After peeling the prawns are freezed single with a protective layer of water (glazing) to prevent dryer and freezer burn. The prawns are packed in bags directly to the customer.
All aspects of the traceability of our prawns are recorded throughout production; from catching through to the finished product. The packaging material is marked according to the customers requirements and includes product information, production date, best before date and EAN code.
