Lyngen Reker AS has 60 years experience in harvesting and processing of prawns. The story goes back to 1950 when the company began with the acquisition of cooked shell-on prawns. In 1955 they started to peel the prawns by hand, and this lasted until the first peeling machine was installed in 1970.The first packing machine for consumer bags was installed in 1988, and then started the trend towards more a technlogical production. The production plant has in its long history had several owners, including Uniprawns and Royal Greenland. In 2007, local owners purchased the plant back, and started with niche production of prawn products. The same year, Stella Polaris bought parts of the company and the sales and marketing was organized in Norway Prawns.
